Minor Bay Lodge: The Major Leagues of Pike Fishing

If a Canadian fishing grand-slam is what you're batting for this summer, you've gotta check out Minor Bay Lodge!

Minor Bay Lodge:

It seems right with big league baseball kicking off, to consider Canada’s Minor Bay Lodge - A major league destination for trophy pike fishing.

What makes Minor Bay a home-run for anyone planning a week of 20lbs pike selfies? For starters, the world’s best pike fishing destinations all have one thing in common…they are on gigantic bodies of water. Names like Great Slave, Athabasca, Lac Seul, Reindeer, God’s and Wollaston are all in the MVPs in the running for Most Valuable Pike destinations.

But, Minor Bay might just be the king-of-the-hill. For starters it’s located in Canada’s top province for trophy pike fishing, Saskatchewan. The Land of the Living Skies is also the land of the monster pike. Above Canada’s great plain lie massive lakes and mammoth river systems teaming with some of the planets biggest pike.

Not only is Minor Bay Lodge found within the top pike fishing province in Canada, it is also located on arguably the provinces top pike fishing lake, Wollaston. What makes Wollaston so special? It’s massive; a few years back I took a floatplane flyout just to reach a remote section of the lake! It also has expansive shallow, fertile bays covered in cabbage beds, pike’s preferred habitat. On one trip to Wollaston we fished the same cabbage bed for an entire day…it had to be 2 miles long by 1 mile wide!

Minor Bay is also perfectly suited for accessing the best water on the lake. Remember these trophy pike lakes are huge which means battling big water. Quick and easy access to prime fishing spots provides for more time for casting. More casting means more trophies, it’s simple math.

What makes Minor Bay a grand slam is the lodge itself. The classic Canadian log lodge sits on the shores of Wollaston Lake creating a scene worthy of Cabela’s catalog cover shot. Once inside, the open beam dining room has the smell of a fine restaurant with the buzz of trophy fish stories. The screened verandah provides a great spot to wind down after a long day on the water. Individual modern cabins surround the lodge and include individual bedrooms, full baths and a sitting area.

If pursing trophy pike is your passion and you’d like to experience the world series of pike fishing, put Minor Bay Lodge in your rotation for a can’t miss trophy fishing opportunity!
