The Next Generation Of Turkey Hunters

Upon rummaging through the photos that've been submitted to our Feather Trail Photo Contest, I started to notice a trend: Nearly one-third of the pictures were of kids posing with their hunting mentors with a turkey, or with their own turkey kills. Being the father of two young boys (with another munchkin on the way), I think it's awesome seeing all of the kiddos involved in turkey hunting!

I can't wait to have my boys join me in the hunting woods. I've been bringing both of them on scouting trips, shed hunts and numerous drives on backcountry roads looking for whitetails and turkeys. My plan is to get a crossbow, teach my oldest how to shoot it and take him with me turkey hunting next spring.

As a little reminder, we're running the Feather Trail Photo Contest on Facebook through June 15, 2014—which means there's still time for you to enter. Check out the photo gallery below of a bunch of youngsters getting in on the trill of hunting longbeards.

Don't forget to submit you photos here , for a chance to win more than $900 in turkey hunting gear from Ameristep, Hunters Specialties, Quaker Boy, Weaver and Winchester.
