Ryan: Pettine needs to learn to be quiet

With reports that the Patriots obtained copies of the Jets' defensive playbooks, Rex Ryan expressed anger at his former right hand man, Mike Pettine, who leaked the story.

As Rex Ryan has become the engine behind the Jets-Patriots rivalry, a new dilemma has risen between the two sides, this time coming from former Rex Ryan disciple, Mike Pettine. Pettine, the current Head Coach of the Browns has accused rival Bill Belichick of obtaining the Jets' playbook. How you ask?

Ryan gave out the team's playbook to Nick Saban, a long-time friend, and former co-worker of Bill Bellichick. As Pettine spoke out about the possibility of the Pats having the Jets' playbook, it was also a suttle shot thrown at Rex Ryan.

"Pettine needs to learn to be quiet," Ryan told reporters on Thursday.

"I don't understand what he's trying to gain by it," Everyone needs to talk to Mike Pettine 'cause he's got all the answers."

The Jets' head man was obviously hurt by the news because he has spent the past season recovering a once damaged reputation. The circus Jets have finally begun to stay out of the front page and into the win column and another fiasco with Ryan would only add fuel to a burning fire.

"I think it's disappointing because it sends a message that, 'Oh, here it goes again,'' noted Ryan.

It's not hard to see the coach's anger regarding the report of the Jets' playbook getting into the New England Patriots hands, and you can't blame him. Ryan has done a fabulous job building a football team, rather than a reality show over the past year, and he is more focused on coaching than dealing with off field drama. Jets fans are hoping their head coach is more prepared than ever to win football games instead of the back page of the paper.
