Gear Review: Bob Allen Canvas Rifle Case

Fact: You can never own too many firearms. And likewise, you can never own too many high-quality gun cases.

Like you, I own lots of guns of all shapes and sizes. But for too many reasons to discuss here, I often fail to have the right-size and type of case on-hand when it comes time to pack for a particular hunting trip.

My all-time favorite model for a scoped rifle is the Bob Allen Canvas Rifle Case. It’s built with 14-ounce canvas duck fabric and has that old-school heft and feel of a topnotch gun case.

In addition to the tough exterior, the case has a quilted lining to protect your favorite rifle, and the nylon zipper functions smoothly and easily. The back strap and sling are leather, which in my opinion is the only way to go on a hunter-green canvas case as nice as this one.

Buying tip: You can fit a short rifle in a long case, so if you’re not sure what gun, or guns, you might someday carry in this case (or if you’re buying it for someone else), I suggest you go with the 48-inch version over the 44-incher.
