To my knowledge, the gorgeous redhead in the above Throwback Thursday video screen-shot isn’t well known, but the man who appears later in the clip is a celebrity—at least within the hunting/shooting/military communities.
The “Wrong Girl” video below is from a couple of years ago, and whether you’ve seen it before or not, it’s worth another look.
Obviously, home defense and personal protection are on the minds of many Americans these days. Gun and ammo sales continue to be strong, and I know that much of what I’ll see next week at SHOT Show (January 20-23) will reflect this trend.
Another thing I’ll see at SHOT are celebrities from the hunting/shooting industry. Every hunter who graces your TV screen on a hunting/shooting show will be there, and many manufacturers set up “booth signings” for SHOT visitors to meet their favorite TV personality.
So now that you’ve watched the video, do you recognize the celebrity at the end? The man making the cameo at the 1:50 mark is none other than retired U.S. Marine R. Lee "Gunny" Ermey, who’s also become famous as an actor in such films as “Full Metal Jacket” and TV programs such as History Channel’s “Mail Call” and “Lock N’ Load.” Each year at SHOT, people wait in long lines to meet Gunny and get his signature.
“Somebody picked the wrong girl.” I love it! Kudos to the marketing team at Glock for this clever ad.
