Review: Konus 2015

Konus expands its lineup for 2015 to include scopes and spotters for all shooters in all shooting and hunting applications.

If I had a nickel for every time someone asked me, “What scope should I put on my Gun X for about $XXX,” or, “I’m planning to hunt X in X and I need a new scope—what do you recommend?” I’d have a pretty solid start on saving for my kids’ college education.

I’ll always throw out a couple of examples, both in regard to magnification and brand, and Konus always makes the short list. And it never fails to surprise me how many die-hard, lifelong hunters give me the hard brow when I mention “Konus.”

Now, admittedly, the brand was new to me, too, a bunch of years ago when I first hunted Montana muleys with good friends Chad and Marsha Schearer. And what better venue to test an optics family—from binos to spotting scope to riflescope—than on an open-country mule deer hunt?

That hunt took place a while ago already (nothing like reminiscing on hunts past to make a fella feel old), and I’ve used Konus products to put a few more heads on the wall since then.

2012 Kansas whitetail with a CVA muzzleloader.

2014 Montana muley with a Bergara rifle.

So, have a look at the newest 2015 offerings from Konus, because what kind of hunting editor would I be if I kept such a secret from you? Exactly. Just as I’ve experienced, I’m certain there’s something in this lineup that’s going to suit you perfectly—regardless of what animals you hunt or guns you shoot.
