New Treestand: Rivers Edge Big Foot XL

Confession: I’m a treestand snob. Few things frustrate me more than a stand that’s difficult to attach to a tree, or one that moves/shifts or squeaks after it’s up.

For that reason, every year at the annual Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas, I stop whenever I see treestands on display. Even though I own a few dozen hang-on stands and a half-dozen ladders (I bowhunt whitetails on private land in Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin), I’m always ready to try something new if I think it’ll help me sit longer and more comfortably.

This year at SHOT I stopped by the Rivers Edge booth and fell in love with the new Big Foot XL (Model RE551). I own a couple of older model Rivers Edge hang-on stands and they’ve served me well through the years, but I could tell immediately that this new design was something special.

The video below does a great job describing the many features of the new treestand. Watch and learn.

The Model RE551 Big Foot XL treestand is so new you probably won’t find it on retail shelves for a while, but be sure to check it out later this spring and summer. Click here to find a store near you.
