After taking a nice rhea, we were off again to find me an ostrich.
We came across this herd of more than 75 water buffalo and decided it best to give them a wide berth.
We found this female…
And then this massive rooster.
We stalked him on foot through an island of scrub oak and when he hit the open field on the other side, I dropped him with one shot from my Legendary Arms .300.
My trophy bird stood almost 9 feet tall and weighed just under 300 pounds.
So, what do you do with an ostrich?
Well, I got almost 100 pounds of meat.
And my friend and taxidermist “Wild” Bill Gallher plans on turning the almost three foot tall legs into lamps and the neck into this art.
Again, my thanks to Brent Oxley and all the great staff at Ox Ranch for a fantastic hunt and great time.
