Water buffalo are dangerous game!

Water buffalo are the largest members of the buffalo family and because of this are often considered more dangerous than their smaller cousins, the Cape buffalo.

Also known as Asian water buffalo or Indian buffalo, water buffalo are massive bovine with males standing upwards of five feet at the shoulder, reaching weights of over 2,000 pounds, and capable of carrying horns of almost 10 feet across.

They are the largest members of the buffalo family and because of this are often considered more dangerous than their smaller cousins, the Cape buffalo.

Water buffalo have stout legs, large splayed hoofs, and tend to be dark brown to black in color.

They are considered dangerous game and can be found in feral populations and on game ranches the world over.

Hunting them is not for the timid and heavy knockdown power is required.

My thanks to Ox Ranch for their help with this story.

And, yes, they often charge when bothered, threatened, and shot!
