Arizona Cop Catches...Chupacabra?

Just what the hell is that thing?

People originally thought it was a kangaroo...

Or a chupacabra.

But the Arizona monster turned out to be a...

...

A Patagonian Mara.

One named Olivia to be exact.

From the Glendale, Arizona Police Department...

"Officer Called to a Kangaroo in the Street"

Officer Joseph Procopio of the Glendale Police Department - Arizona responded to a police call for a "kangaroo in the street." When he arrived on scene he saw a family trying to capture her before she went onto the main road. He ended up lassoing her with a dog leash, safely catching her so she wasn't harmed by any traffic in the roadway. She was super sweet and let all the children pet her. It was definitely a great connection with the community as all of the neighbors joined in and fed the "kangaroo."

He exhausted all efforts trying to find an animal service to come and help take care of her until they could locate where she belonged. With quick thinking he ended up having a Glendale City Park Ranger pick her up and bring her back to the their facility for the night. They e-mailed him a few days later and said the owner contacted them and said the Patagonian Mara was an exotic pet. The Mara is named Olivia.

Below is a photo of Olivia the Patagonian Mara and Officer Procopio her hero!
