Ain't No Mountain High Enough 4

NAH Editor Gayne Young is back on track in his attempt to get in hunt shape

After yesterday's excuses, I hit Enchanted Rock this morning with a vengeance.

The drive out, as always, was beautiful and full of unique Texas Hill Country oddities.

Like this rooster.

I mean, it's no Predator but unique nonetheless.

There's also quite a few elk on the way out to the park.

None of which would get close enough for a pic from my camera but...

Them's elk I guess.

I hit the Rock bright and early.

The day was cloudy and muggy as hell and made for a sticky hike.

My goal for the day was to hike the 400 feet incline without stopping and while I didn't meet that goal, I did make it to the top in under 15 minutes.

This is a five minute increase since Wednesday.

Not bad for an old man.

I got to the top just in time to catch the clouds break.

I hiked down, tagged the sign, and made my way up for round two.

Rond two took more than 15 minutes but I still made it under 20.

Small improvements - and getting outside - give me hope that I just might get back into hunt shape soon.

How are you doing?
