Have you ever landed a catfish this big? This monster Blue Catfish was caught on Lake Tawakoni by Guide Teri Littlejohn and is a personal best for her. The huge 68 pound blue hit a large piece of cut gizzard shad and put up a good fight for about 5 minutes. The big fish was photographed and released to fight another day.
Blue catfish are primarily large river-fish native to major rivers of Ohio, Missouri and Mississippi rivers basins but are often found south through Texas, Mexico and northern Guatemala. Big blues are also the largest freshwater sport fish in Texas, with common weights ranging from 20-40 pounds and the largest rod-and-reel catch weighing in at a whopping 121.5 pounds.
