Jason got on a few good crankbait fish this year and here he shares some of his thoughts on tackle and technique for deep cranking. One of the things he forgot to mention in this video is that he likes reeling a deep diver really fast to trigger that reaction strike. But it's because he fishes current a lot with a crankbait and if you've ever seen bass forage on baitfish in current, you know the baitfish will scatter and run around crazy over the bottom trying to evade the bass. That is the action he's mimicking by reeling so fast.

In this video he used the following gear:

Abu Garcia Revo Winch with a Duckett Fishing Medium Heavy Macro Rod

Lew's Speed Spool with a St. Croix Mojo Bass Glass Cranker rod

Lew's BB1 with an 8-foot Dobyns Randy McAbee Crankbait rod

Lew's Speed Spool with a 7-foot, 6-inch MH Denali Jadewood Crankbait rod
