How to Punch and Fish Water Hyacinth

Floating mats of water hyacinth fish differently than matted grass that extends to the bottom. Fishing it effectively requires some knowledge about how this cover grows, and how fish relate to it.

Water hyacinth is a common matted grass type throughout the deep south and western states, but as B.A.S.S. pro Hunter Shryock masterfully explains, catching fish out of this stuff requires an understanding of how it grows, and how your bait should be presented when it punches through. This is a great video to watch if you’re new to hyacinth fishing or want to gain a little additional insight.
