GMAN Talks Finding Prespawn Bass Off the Bank

GMAN shows us that the best prespawn banks are often a cast or further away from the actual bank - call it nearshore prespawn cranking for big 'uns!

Most springtime bass fisherman beat the bank around the spawn, but the biggest schools of the biggest fish are often relating to prime structure just off the bank. We're coining it the nearshore-prespawn pattern, and as Swindle explains, the bass are tougher to find, but often heavily schooled and readily biting. GMAN teaches us how to read the bank for habitat cues, then carry that interpretation to what your electronics are showing you below the boat. Depth changes coupled with rock and wood can pile them up big time. Swindle is quick to reach for tight-wobbling balsa crankbaits like the DT 6 and 10. They allow you to cover water quickly while the subtle action triggers bites from more tentative cool-water bass.
