According to a report on FoxSports.com, the Edwin Jackson era in Tampa Bay has come to an end. The Rays, the report says, are close to finalizing a deal that will send Jackson to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for power-hitting outfielder and Tampa native Matt Joyce. Minaya, however, parted ways with three future stars—Brandon Phillips, Cliff Lee and Grady Sizemore—as the Expos fell apart the rest of the way and failed to reach the playoffs.

Alex Cobb has been effective in the South Atlantic League, posting a 3.34 ERA, 81-to-28 K/W ratio and 1.08 WHIP in 21 starts overall for the Columbus Catfish. He has struggled since making the league All-Star team, however, having registered a 6.48 ERA in seven post-break starts. He has turned in a nice showing overall, though, and is a prospect to keep an eye on.
