On Thursday night it was announced that junior guard Devoe Joseph was suspended from the team indefinitely for a violation of team rules. Joseph will remain on the team in order to practice but will not be able to play or travel with the team.

Minnesota kept their NCAA tournament hopes alive with a 76-55 win over Penn State in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. The Gophers will face Michigan State in the second round. They lost to the Spartans twice during the regular season, including a heart-breaking one point loss at Williams Arena. The Gophers got good news with the losses by Arizona State, UAB, Memphis and Seton Hall.

Minnesota athletics officials were informed by the NCAA late Tuesday that junior point guard Al Nolen's appeal to the Division I Progress Toward Degree Waiver Committee has been denied. As a result, Nolen is ineligible to compete for the Gophers or travel with the team for the balance of the 2009-10 season. He is permitted to practice with the team and take part in other team activities.

The Errol Carlstrom Playaz won their four straight playoff game, including three contests this week to advance to the championship game with a 125-97 win over B-2-X. They will face the El-Amin Fish House Thursday night and if they win, will force another game Friday night.

Devoe Joseph, a 6-foot-3 sophomore guard, had a excellent freshman campaign for the Gophers. Joseph had a season-best 31 points for Errol Carlstrom Playaz as they improved to 3-1 as they defeated B-2-X 119-115 Wednesday night. GoldenSports.
