On Friday, June 13, 2008 in Indianapolis and Sunday, June 15, 2008 in Louisville, the senior all-star teams from Kentucky and Indiana went head to head in the annual two leg series. There were two players of Miami interest playing in the two games. Playing for Indiana was 6-8 Miami signee PF Julian Mavunga from Brownsburg, Indiana. For the Kentucky side was Miami target Victor Moses.

The Miami RedHawks filled their one and only scholarship for the class of 2008 on Tuesday when Julian Mavunga announced he was heading just over the Indiana border to Oxford, Ohio. The signing is significant for Miami; Mavunga had been Miami's number one target all throughout the recruiting process. After making the call to inform the coaches, RedHawk Insider caught up with Mavunga.
RedHawk Insider received a call from Indiana power forward Julian Mavunga at the worst of times Sunday night – as our plane was taxing and getting ready to take off from New York City to Cincinnati. Despite our limited time to talk Mavunga revealed that he has a new date for his decision, and updated us as to where he stands on his decision.

With one official visit down, and one more this weekend, the Julian Mavunga sweepstakes will soon have a winner. After visiting Oxford, Ohio this past weekend, Mavunga has set a firm timetable on when his decision will be made. the date set, now all Mavunga needs is a partner. Before taking any visits he announced that Miami University and Indiana State were tied. Now he has a leader.

The chase for Julian Mavunga is heating up, and quite possibly coming to a conclusion soon. Mavunga, the 6'8 forward from Indiana, has narrowed down his list to two schools. As Mavunga gets ready to take his official visits to the two schools, it appears the two horses are neck and neck as they stride towards the finish line.
