The Huskies have struggled on the road of late, losing 12 of their last 13 away from Husky Stadium and many thought that going to Oklahoma to face the Sooners would continue that streak. However, Washington came out strong early in Norman and they raised a few eyebrows of those in the press box.

It wasn't pretty to say the least, but the Washington Huskies can say that they started the season with a win, and for the time being, boast a winning record for the first time in nearly three years with a 35-29 over San Jose State Saturday in front of 52,256 paying customers at Husky Stadium.

It's been just a little more than a week since fall camp started and Tim Lappano is bubbling with energy. You can tell in the way that he walks and in the way that he talks about his Washington offense - a group that was maligned in 2005 for not being able to run or pass the ball with much consistency.

Out on the field at Husky Stadium, the players went through their first padded practice of fall camp and head coach Tyrone Willingham saw some things he liked and some things he didn't like. The energy was brisk and the players were up and ready to go and a few are starting to settle in to their defined roles so far.
