Blackman No.1 QB; Idaho preseason honors

Idaho's linebackers ready for impact

GAME DAY: Vandals host Hawaii

THE UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO VANDALS are still looking for their first conference win in what has turned out to be a season of disappointment. Coming off a bye, Idaho hosts the Hawaii Warriors on Saturday (2pm PST kickoff), a team that entered the season as a favorite to win the WAC. Coming off a win over New Mexico State, the Warriors enter the game with a 2-1 WAC record while Idaho stands at 0-3.

Mauga, Scheidt in fierce battle at SAM

WHAT DOES A FULLY LOADED DEPTH CHART do for a defense? For starters, it allows you to open up the defensive playbook. Speed and experience are the name of the game, and this fall Idaho will have its most loaded defense in the Akey era. It's been four years in the making, but the Vandal defense can finally boast some serious depth for 2010. And nowhere is this more evident than at linebacker.

2010 PREVIEW: Vandal 'backers standing tall

LED BY FOURTH YEAR STARTER, senior strongside linebacker JOSEPH "JOJO" DICKSON (6-2, 235), the Vandals return a loaded linebacking unit for the 2010 season. Unlike at anytime in the last five years, the Vandals go 2-deep across the board with extensive game-time experience, plus they return four of Idaho's top eight tacklers from a year ago, including the top tacklers at SAM, MIKE, and WILL.

The Vandals put a premium on linebackers this recruiting season, and confirmed tonight that CONRAD SCHEIDT (6-1, 225, 4.7) out of Kamehameha (Hawaii) High School is done with the recruiting process and reaffirmed his commitment to the University of Idaho. Scheidt, ranked No. 81 by, joins four high school prospects who take aim fortifying the Vandal linebacking unit this fall.
