VANDAL GAMEDAY: Idaho at La Tech

THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON IDAHO (3-2, 0-0 WAC) heads to Ruston to take on Louisiana Tech (2-4, 1-1 WAC) in the Western Athletic Conference opener for the Vandals. Idaho is coming off a bye week, while the Bulldogs are coming off an impressive 24-6 victory over Utah State. This is a "must win" game for both teams (kickoff at 1PM PST and telecast live on GamePlan), with bowl aspirations on the line.

It's "homecoming" for several Vandals, as Idaho takes on Hawaii today on the islands (8pm PST kickoff, ESPN GamePlan). For coach ROBB AKEY, progress is being made: "We ARE on the right track, and I think our players are understanding that as well. They've been playing their tails off, they're playing physical, they're flying around. They believe in what they're doing. We're a good family."

Vandals Gain Vital Commitment

MAKING TEXAS A RECRUITING PRIORITY is a top goal for second-year coach Robb Akey, and he's making that goal a reality. Last year Idaho signed three from the Lone Star state: Dewey Hale, Quin Ashley, and Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year Justin Allen. This week Idaho picked up a verbal pledge from star tailback TROY VITAL (6-0, 200, 4.45), a Texas Class 4A First-Team All-State selection.
