Cubs Minor League Notebook: July 3

Casey Coleman got a win for an early birthday present Friday. Chris Archer won his sixth straight start in his Double-A debut. Mike Brenly socked his fourth straight multi-hit game at Daytona. Greg Rohan reached the 50 RBI plateau at Peoria. Tarlandus Mitchell had a rough start at Boise, as did Casey Lambert in the AZL.

Siegfried Excited about Starting

After spending most of his debut professional season in the bullpen, left-hander Chris Siegfried is ready to give the starting rotation a try. The left-hander, selected by the Cubs in the 11th round of the draft a year ago, was assigned to Class-A Peoria earlier this week.

Chris Siegfried Promoted

Peoria, IL- The Peoria Chiefs in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs have announced that LHP Chris Siegfried has been promoted from the short-season affiliate in Boise. Siegfried is expected to join the team in Grand Rapids for the start of an eight-game road trip. The Chiefs active roster now stands at 25 players.

Siegfried's Upside Within Reach

Chris Siegfried initially came to the University of Portland as a walk-on looking for a bullpen spot. After spending three up and down seasons in the West Coast Conference, he was scooped up by the Cubs in the 11th round of this year's draft.
