Trevor Releford Signs To Play In Poland

Former Alabama standout Trevor Releford has signed a professional contract with King Wilki Morskie Szczecin of the Polish Basketball League (TBL). Releford is slated to depart for his new team on Aug. 7, with training camp beginning on Aug. 9.

It is not a huge surprise on the Player of the Year, either the man who won it or the man who didn't. Certainly in the Alabama camp, there is disappointment.

Good & Bad News For Tide Basketball

Trevor Releford seems to be marching to the beat of a different drummer. While Releford has been all-star caliber this season, his Alabama teammates haven't kept up as the Crimson Tide is headed for its worst season in decades. The good news is that Bama will be on its home court Saturday. The bad news is that Missouri, which beat Alabama by 21 points a month ago, is the opponent.

Trevor Releford is almost a lock to repeat as a first team All-Southeastern Conference Player. The feel good story of the year in SEC men's basketball would be if Releford is selected SEC Player of the Year. But that's not likely because Alabama is not a very good basketball team. And history says it will have a little worse record over the next week.
