Bishop retires, 7 others departing program

OFFSEASON ATTRITION IS a way of life in college football. That doesn't make it any less abrupt. Eight Beavers have left the program, Oregon State announced today. They are: WR Jordan Bishop, WR Geno Munoz, CB Keynan Parker, LB Cade Cowdin, QB Jack Lomax, LB Zeke Sanders, LB Will Storey and WR Tyler Trosin.

CORVALLIS–A lot of news coming out of the Beavs' Friday practice. A true frosh running back and receiver are looking as if they'll likely be starters in their first collegiate games. Another freshman DE is not being fitted for a redshirt either – and there are seven true frosh who will play. The D's starting front four has been determined. And BF.C's Warner Strausbaugh has all that and more..

CORVALLIS – The offseason rash of injuries has followed Oregon State into fall camp, big time. The Beavs are going to be without the services of starting corner Brandon Hardin for a while, Mike Riley said on Friday. And suddenly a secondary that previously was being called a defensive strength has been turned upside down.

MUST READ: Day 7 PM session, Insights Galore

CORVALLIS -- The second practice of the day saw WRs James Rodgers and Aaron Nichols sit out as well as corner Sean Martin. However, those absences presented as opportunities for players such as Micah Hatfield, Obum Gwacham and once again, Markus Wheaton. Jordan Jenkins looked great, Ryan Katz had an off night, and James Dockery stepped up his coverage and the defense as a whole won the battle.

THERE WILL be no returning all-conference members lining up in the OSU secondary, and yet the unit has the potential to be one of the best in the program's history. Indeed, the starting four should give Oregon State tremendous versatility in defending virtually any type of offense.
