PULLMAN – It's a small group of graduating seniors for Washington State in 2013 and the question looms: Are there NFL-caliber prospects among them? If WSU's NFL Pro Day proved anything Thursday, it's that some Cougs will, at the least, be wild cards come draft day next month. Indeed, from this chair, the event was a raging success.

FOR 13 WASHINGTON State seniors, today's Apple Cup is more than a rivalry game. It's their final game in crimson. Most names are familiar, some not. One ranks among the great Cougar defenders of the last dozen years. And all had a hand in pouring the foundation for a better future in WSU football.

PULLMAN -- Given the Pac-12 suspension of junior safety Deone Bucannon, some new faces needed to step in Tuesday and staple down the Wazzu secondary. The quarterback situation remains questionable, but a front-runner seems to have emerged. Meanwhile the linebackers continued to shift around Tuesday with another new combination hitting the field.

PULLMAN -- The Cougars' offensive and defensive units seemed to have a much different response to their post-breakfast practice Wednesday. While the defense was fired up and disruptive -- they repeatedly knocked down passes -- the offense could not develop any rhythm. Running backs and quarterbacks alike could not hang onto the ball on countless plays during skeleton drills.
