There have been a couple of times, before this scheduled weekend visit, for Abrecus Martinez to make a trip up to see Nebraska. The first was this summer on or around summer camp that just did not work out. Then, there was an earlier scheduled official visit date that had to slide out. This weekend, Martinez was set to finally make it in until bad news came along.

Last year, Nebraska was able to go into Louisiana and have success with recruiting. Late in the process, they were able to get wide receiver Khiry Cooper. This year, the Huskers have had their sights set on another tall, play-making receiver from Louisiana. There was an early visit set that was canceled, but it seems that the trip is on again for later in the season.

Sometimes recruiting a pair of teammates is an amazing idea. Other times, if you miss on one then the other won't consider coming there anymore. That isn't the case with Abrecus Martinez from Rayville (La.). The 6-foot-2.5 and 190-pound Martinez has set up a couple of official visits so far. Are the Huskers one of them?

Nebraska is going to lose some more wide receivers this year and is still looking for some wide receivers that can make big plays out of little throws. The Huskers have their eyes set on this pair of team mates from Louisiana that could do just that. Kenny Bell and Abrecus Martinez are looking hard at the Huskers and will get a better look at them while they are in Lincoln this summer.

Even if there is no overhaul to the Husker offense, the fact remains that players leave and you have to find some pieces to put in their place. Abrecus Martinez is a player who certainly fits, but outside of his own ability, whoever gets him might get his four-star teammate as well.
