Leach trims roster, with more coming

AFTER A MONTH OF spring workouts, Mike Leach is trimming his roster. With WSU needing to get to the NCAA-mandated 105-player limit by the start of fall camp, several have been cut and some are planning to leave. In all, WSU will trim around 20 in order to accommodate the incoming recruiting class, according to well-placed sources at WSU. Of the known departures, one is a scholarship athlete.

WASHINGTON STATE COACH Paul Wulff announced early this week that senior Marshall Lobbestael would start at quarter Saturday when the Cougars host Stanford in their homecoming game at 4:30 p.m. Saturday (TV: Versus). PRACTICE REPORT: Tuel busy working with 1s

PULLMAN -- Washington State quarterback Jeff Tuel was cleared this morning to play in Saturday's homecoming game against Stanford, and the junior responded Wednesday with his best practice since his return. Coach Paul Wulff said he was impressed with Tuel, who spent the majority of practice with the starters.

PULLMAN – The first of the two-a-day practices have arrived, and if there were one word to describe the defense's performance on Friday morning, "rebound" would be more than fitting. After being dominated by the offense Thursday, Chris Ball's unit came ready to play, showcasing some fine work on both the defensive line and in the secondary.
