QB spot up for grabs for Senior Day game

The Idaho Vandals hope to send out their seniors on a winning note for the second year in a row. Idaho (2-8 overall, 1-4 WAC) plays host to Utah State on Saturday (2pm PST kickoff, live on ESPN3), the team's final home game. The Vandals, which had lost six Senior Day games in a row before finally breaking through last season, hope to make it two in a row for 20 Idaho seniors.

Davis to start at QB against BYU

THE VANDALS HOLD A 2-1 EDGE IN THE ALL-TIME SERIES with Brigham Young, but haven't battled the Cougars since 1955. Idaho and BYU played a three-game series from 1953-1955 with the Cougars winning the first game 20-14 followed by two Idaho wins (7-0 in '54, and 49-6 in '55). With redshirt sophomore QB TAYLOR DAVIS leading the charge, Idaho resumes its series with BYU in Provo (6:15PM PST, ESPN2).

Vandal road victory is Taylor made

MAKING THE SECOND START OF HIS CAREER AT IDAHO, redshirt sophomore quarterback TAYLOR DAVIS delivered the spark the Vandal offense needed, ending a six-game losing skid with a 32-29 win at San Jose State. After throwing for just 33 yards last week against Hawaii, Davis completed 13-of-20 attempts for 162 yards and a TD at SJSU, while senior tailback Kama Bailey erupted for 163 yards and two TDs.

Three keys to Idaho success in 2011

FOR IDAHO TO RETURN TO BOWL ELIGIBILITY THIS FALL, a list of goals must be met, starting with each athlete meeting or exceeding expectations. But beyond that priority, there are three keys that are most frequently listed, including senior MICHAEL COSGROVE leading a more disruptive defensive line, improved productivity across the offensive line, and the play of first year starting QB Brian Reader.

Northwest Region Offensive Player of the Year and All-State recognition. Idaho commit TAYLOR DAVIS earned these honors after a season in which he threw for 2,357 yards, 26 touchdowns, and just six picks in 218 attempts (64% completion), leading Boulder Creek (Ariz.) High School to the second round of the playoffs in just its third year of existence. Inside he talks about his commitment to Idaho.
