PULLMAN — The youth movement continued Tuesday in Washington State's fourth practice of the bowl season. The veterans hit WSU's indoor practice facility for a quick 20 minutes of reps before heading to the weights. That left the field for the young guns, as head coach Mike Leach devotes much of his bowl season early practice time to developing the backups.

SENIOR DEONE BUCANNON WAS ONE of five Cougars earning All Pac-12 recognition on Monday. Nobody in the Pac-12 this season posted more tackles than the Washington State safety -- Bucannon racked up 109 takedowns over the course of the 2013 regular season.

In fact, Washington State center Elliott Bosch recalls getting roughed up a bit by Washington fans when he attended the Apple Cup as a young Cougars fan in 2005, when Alex Brink and Trandon Harvey teamed up in the waning moments in Seattle to win it for the Cougs.

IT'S DIFFICULT TO describe the catharsis that occured in Pullman on Saturday. Over 10 years of misery seemed to be wiped away when WSU took down Utah 49-37, giving the Cougar faithful what they've been dreaming of since 2003: bowl eligibility. Postgame, the scribes wrote all about that and gave plenty of kudos to the hosses, Connor Halliday and the rest of the gang.
