The Washington Wizards selected former Florida guard Bradley Beal with the third overall pick in the NBA Draft on Thursday. Beal became the highest-drafted Florida player since Al Horford also went third to the Atlanta Hawks in the 2007 NBA Draft. He became the 11th Florida player drafted in the first round and seventh drafted in the top ten.

Watching Brad Beal carry the Gators to the Elite Eight last season, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before the freshman announced his intentions to declare for the NBA Draft. He waited longer than most expected, but Beal made it official on Friday morning. Despite being a lock to be taken in the lottery of the NBA Draft, it wasn't an easy decision for the guard to make.

Freshman sensation Brad Beal has done everything imaginable for Florida basketball this year. With the Gators still thin in the front court due to injury, Beal is going to have to find another level for the Gators to accomplish what they want in the post season.
