Team Two rolled to a 95-67 win over Team Three in the Orlando pre-draft camp. Denham Brown of Connecticut lead all scorers with 20 as he made eight of 15 shots from the field. Dwayne Mitchell of Louisiana-Lafayette added 12 points as six players reached double figures.

The Nike and ABCD Camps have concluded and for the next few days the coaches can contact players they've evaluated. Some players will be getting that first call, others are on the "follow up" list.<BR> The Wildcats are in hot pursuit of some of the nation's most talented players. If that isn't enough to stir the pot, they might also be bringing in a transfer.

16 finalists for the 2003 USA Basketball Men's Junior World Championship Team were announced today. The USA Junior squad will compete July 10-20 in the 2003 FIBA Men's Junior World Championship Tournament that was recently moved from Malaysia to Thessaloniki, Greece. The USA has been placed in Group C, joining China, Nigeria and Slovenia and will be coached by Ernie Kent of Oregon. Five of the team members played for Kent in last year's junior qualifying team.

USA Basketball announced that 52 of the top high school and college players have accepted invitations to participate in the 2003 USA Basketball Men's National Team Trials. The Trials will be held May 30-June 1 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Twenty five players who earned collegiate all-conference honors in 2002-03 and 15 college freshmen were named to their conference all-freshman teams. The Big Ten leads the way with nine players selected to participate.

The Academy National Invitational has high expectations after an outstanding debut. However, the country's top teams and players plus plenty of local Houston talent may mean this year's event is even better. The ANI will be held December 27-30 with the Texas division and the national division titles on the 30th. The venue is the Campbell Center, which seats 4,700 fans. The event has 7 of the eight national team ranked in USA Today's preseason Top 20, including three teams among the top four.

Preseason FAB 50 No. 13 Los Angeles Westchester's national (or even state) title hopes took a big hit on Wednesday when it was announced that two underclass transfers were ruled ineligible to compete in athletics for one year due to alleged violations. One of them, shooting guard Gabriel Pruitt, was considered a Top 15 sophomore in the state last season.
