Irish Forward Torin Francis to Enter NBA Draft

Torin Francis, a 6-foot-10 junior forward from Notre Dame, has announced that he will enter the NBA draft. Francis will not sign with an agent and could pull out of the draft and return for his senior season. He averaged 9.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game and led the Irish in rebounding for the third straight season. Francis is hoping to earn an invite to the Chicago pre-draft camp in June.

Brey Logs 100th Win in Victory Over Hoyas

On January 23, the Notre Dame basketball team lost a heartbreaker, 55-54, to Georgetown as time expired. The Irish avenged that loss on Wednesday night as the Irish defeated the Hoyas, 70-64, before 11,418 fired-up fans. The win moves Notre Dame to 15-7 overall and 7-5 in the BIG EAST. Georgetown goes to 16-7 and 8-4 in the conference.

Chris Thomas to return to Notre Dame

6-1 point guard Chris Thomas of Notre Dame has decided to pull his name out of the 2003 NBA draft and return for his junior season. He had said that if he was not certain that he would be a top 20 pick, he will return for his junior season.

52 Players invited to USA Basketball Men's Trials

USA Basketball announced that 52 of the top high school and college players have accepted invitations to participate in the 2003 USA Basketball Men's National Team Trials. The Trials will be held May 30-June 1 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Twenty five players who earned collegiate all-conference honors in 2002-03 and 15 college freshmen were named to their conference all-freshman teams. The Big Ten leads the way with nine players selected to participate.
