Former Gopher Aliou Kane visiting Dixie State

Aliou Kane, who recently decided to transfer from the University of Minnesota, is visiting Dixie State (UT) CC this weekend. Kane, a redshirt freshman center from Mauritania, Africa, played in 17 games and averaged 0.5 minutes, 0.5 points and 0.6 rebounds per game this season. He will transfer to a junior college and play there for one year and then transfer to a Division I school for two more years of eligibility. Jay Pivec of local Minneapolis (MN) CC is hoping to get involved with Kane.

Aliou Kane has decided to transfer from the University of Minnesota and leave the men's basketball team. Dan Coleman transfers to Minnesota

Forward Dan Coleman of Minnetonka Hopkins has transferred to Minnesota. He will be eligible to play for the Golden Gophers for the 2004-05 season due to NCAA transfer guidelines. Coleman got his release from Boston College. Coleman committed to the Eagles last June and helped lead Hopkins to a third-place finish in the Class AAAA state championship this season. He was named to the College Basketball News' Minnesota All-State team after averaging 15 points and eight rebounds per game.

Gopher MBB depth chart for 2003-04 season

The Gophers will lose 35.9 points, 16.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game with the loss of seniors Jerry Holman and Kevin Burleson, Rick Rickert (NBA Draft) and Steve Esselink (transfer). However, the Gophers added a 10th scholarship player for the 2003-04 season when Kris Humphries announced for the Gophers. They return six players and also welcome UNC transfer Adam Boone, redshirt freshman Aliou Kane and incoming freshmen Wesley Washington and Kerry Woolridge.
