Moore takes temporary medical leave

Vanderbilt Head Coach Kevin Stallings announced Tuesday that senior guard Mario Moore has taken a temporary leave of absence for medical reasons.

Lowery: "Offense executed well vs. Auburn"

Vanderbilt came out strong against the Tigers and never let go of the lead on the way to a 74-50 victory. The Commodores were led by a resurgent Mario Moore, who got himself back into his old form. Coach Stallings praised every aspect of Moore's game: "Mario played his best game of the year and did a great job of organizing us and running the team… His basketball IQ is very high, so when he plays like he played today then we're a much better team."

Super Mario is back!

"Super Mario" is back. On a night in which Derrick Byars scored 20 points on 8 shots and Julian Terrell had 12 points and 5 rebounds, Mario Moore stole the show. With 15 points and only one turnover, Mario ended the game with an amazing last second three-pointer to put the Commodores ahead by one as the buzzer rang.

VU women picked fourth, men third in SEC East

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Vanderbilt men's basketball team was predicted to finish third in the SEC Eastern Division, while the Commodore women were picked to finish fourth overall in the conference Thursday in a voting of media held at the SEC Basketball Media Days. Vandy junior forward Carla Thomas was voted first-team preseason All-SEC, while junior guard Dee Davis was named to the second team. On the men's side, Mario Moore was named second-team preseason All-SEC.
