WITH WSU NEEDING to get to the NCAA-mandated 105-player limit by the start of fall camp, the Cougs have recently trimmed their roster. Of the known departures, one is a scholarship athlete.

Countdown to Spring: Cougars OL Preview

But the squad was undersized last year, clearly adjusting to a new scheme and mightily struggled to protect the quarterback and open holes for running backs. Lack of o-line depth reaches critical state

PULLMAN – Offensive line coach Clay McGuire said the situation in the trenches this season has reached a dire level. With only six healthy bodies remaining, McGuire said he's worried redshirts might have to be burned in order to win some football games. He also said if it weren't for redshirts, the offensive line may look much different.

WSU DAY 17: Crisp session pleases Leach

PULLMAN – Washington State came out and attacked the gridiron with zeal aplenty on Monday. The Cougs were composed, motivated and enthusiastic, looking to rebound from arguably their worst practice the session before. And a junior o-lineman played the entire afternoon on the defensive side of the ball in the Cougs' 3-4. Plus, the rosters have expanded with classes now underway at Wazzu.

DAY 16: Leach cracks whip; special teams woes

PULLMAN–The Cougs came out Sunday lacking vigor, hustle and effort. Fighting sweltering heat, the Wazzu offense sputtered and failed to establish any sort of tempo. And Mike Leach wasn't pleased. He proceeded to make it very clear to the players that if the Cougs are going to go anywhere this year, it will be predicated on effort and hustle. Plus, a ST report and a corner was sporting a new cast.
