FORMER COUG BASKETBALLERS DaVonte Lacy and Jordan Railey knew going into NBA summer league action would be a tough task to make a team. Now that Lacy has had two games with Indianapolis and Railey one with Philadelphia, the size of the challenge has come into clearer focus.

Cougs can’t hit, Cal can’t miss in Vegas rout

SLOPPY PASSING, poor rebounding, no interior defense. Yet somehow Washington State led 16-15 early on against Cal in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament. But poor play -- particularly an Olé defense -- eventually catches up to you. And the Cougs’ tournament stay was a short one after an 82-59 rout at the hands of the Bears.

THE WAY THE first half was going, maybe it should have been called Sophomore Day -- Josh Hawkinson and Ike Iroegbu were on fire for Washington State early against Colorado. But it would be senior guard DaVonte Lacy who coaxed in a last second jumper to send the game into overtime. And Lacy and his two fellow Cougar seniors were just getting warmed up.
