Maurice Walker to Miss Remainder of Season

The University of Minnesota basketball program announced today that freshman forward Maurice Walker will miss the remainder of the 2010-11 season with a torn posterior cruciate ligament and meniscus. Walker suffered the injury on Dec. 23 against South Dakota State.

Maurice (Mo) Walker, a 6-10, 300-pounder from Brewster Academy who visited Minnesota this weekend, will become a Gopher. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Brewster head coach Jason Smith who said that a faxed letter of intent was sent to Walker's mother for her to sign and they plan sending Minnesota the signed copies via Fed EX today with an announcement by the school to happen tomorrow.

Mo Walker Likes Minnesota Visit

Maurice (Mo) Walker, a 6-10, 300-pounder from Wolfeboro (NH) Brewster Academy, visited Minnesota this weekend and liked what he saw, according to his father Craig Walker. Walker, who is one of the top available big men, was hearing from schools such as Rutgers, Seton Hall, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Marquette, Providence and Minnesota. He could make a decision soon to become a Golden Gopher.
