For Brian Gump, August was going to be a big month. After some mechanical tweaking, Gump was finally finding his swing in the waning days of July and was looking forward to the rest of the season, until the Baseball Gods had a different idea.
Brian Gump had a nice first season in the pros, but the thought is that he'll get much better. After revamping his swing, Gump is poised to put up better numbers in 2010 than he did in 2009.

The off-season is a bit of a misnomer; There is very little "off" time for professional baseball players. That's especially true for young players working their way through the system.

As Brian Gump entered his "off" season, he found himself with a lot to do other than baseball. After all, he hasn't made millions, so he has to work an actual day job and fit in time for his classes and working out. So much for down time.
