Pro scouts come to Pullman, Cougs shine

PULLMAN — Three-plus months of intensive preparation for 10 WSU seniors boiled down to just a couple of hours this week on their home turf in Pullman. Wale Dada summed up afterward what each one of WSU's Pro Day participants must have been thinking: "If they give me a hole, I have to rip it wide open."

Sizing up Harrison & Co.'s NFL draft outlook

JEROME HARRISON'S MONSTER 2005 season rocketed him from nowhere on most NFL draft boards to a projected late second- or early third-round choice. Scanning the early returns of a number of pundits who forecast the draft, the buzz on Harrison is increasingly positive but his size (5-9, 200) is a drawback. He'll have a chance to mitigate those doubts in a big way with a strong showing in the Jan. 28 Senior Bowl game -– and, more specifically, in the practices leading up to the game.

Yet more honors for Trent and Ahmu

THE HONORS CONTINUE to pile up for Cougar freshmen Greg Trent and Fevaea'i Ahmu. The Sporting News has picked both to its Pac-10 All-Freshman team, and also named Trent a second-team Freshman All-American and Ahmu a third-team choice. The kudos follow on the heels of other national recognition for the pair.
