THE VANDALS LAUNCHED SPRING CAMP last week, and intense competition for starting roles is expected across the board. Sixteen JC recruits were signed to make an immediate impact, and seven are on campus now. But Vandal fans will have to wait a few more months for heralded cornerback DENNIS RUFUS (6-2, 205) to arrive. With an eye towards fall, GoVandals.net caught up with the CCCAA All-American.

SIGNING DAY: Vandals add 17 recruits

NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT DAY was a day loaded with surprises for Vandal fans as the second year staff under head coach Paul Petrino hauled in athletes from coast to coast. Of the 17 recruits signed Wednesday - most poised to make an immediate impact this fall - nine will be joining the program from the junior college ranks, taking the class to 25 with the eight JC recruits signed in December.

Rufus sets visit to Iowa State

The Iowa State football coaching staff only has a few more spots to fill for their 2010-11 recruiting class. One player they are still considering is Covina (CA) Charter Oak High School's Dennis Rufus and the star wide receiver recently decided to take a visit to Ames next weekend.

Charter Oak (Covina, Ca.) DB Dennis Rufus already has several Pac 10 schools eyeing him and Washington is one of them. The Husky coaching staff hasn't extended an offer yet, but they could be close and the talented corner told Dawgman.com they are one of his top schools.
