Last Wednesday, Cerritos College's Ma'ataua Brown and his cousin Kalolo Manumaleuna Utu drove up from California for an unofficial visit to BYU. On Friday, the 6-foot-5-inch, 350-pound Brown was offered by Coach Mendenhall and promptly accepted the offer.

Coach Kaufusi went down to Cerritos College in Norwalk, California to evaluate a defensive tackle that was once rated the 51st best among high school prospects. Now the Cougar coaches are taking a serious look at the freshman junior college defensive lineman.

Regardless of how many kids end up signing, this third-year class of the Steve Sarkisian era is already a success. Coach himself is really a good recruiter, and is obviously taking pride in what he is starting to build here at Washington. He is about to sign a couple dozen or so more kids that will further put his stamp on this program.
