Back in August BF.com gave you five players on the offensive side of the ball and five players on the defensive side of the ball to keep your eye on. With the 2006 season behind us it is time take a look back at those key players, starting with the defense.

After coming off of a huge win against their instate rivals, locking up third place in the Pac-10 and accepting an invitation to the Sun Bowl motivation could be running low Saturday when Oregon State squares off against Hawaii at Aloha Stadium. But head coach Mike Riley and his players say there is plenty to play for, especially pride.

Oregon State leads the Pac-10 and is ninth in the nation in time of possession at 32:09 a game and that bodes well heading into Saturday's game. The Beavers best defense against Hawaii's offense will be long, clock eating drives that keep the Warrior offense on the sidelines.

Yvenson Bernard, Jeremy Perry and Sabby Piscitelli were named to the Pac-10's All-Conference first team Monday. Kyle DeVan, Derrick Doggett, Adam Koets, Alexis Serna and Sammie Stroughter earned second team honors. Stroughter was named a second team member as a receiver and punt returner.

Although the players and coaches repeatedly say it is one game at a time the chance to qualify for the post season after missing out a year ago has to be exciting. "Obviously we want to be bowl eligible, but that is in the back our heads," defensive tackle Ben Siegert said. "We just want to get another win and keep winning games. We will worry about the bowls when the season is over."
