IF ERIC MELE hadn’t been so quick to respond, Kaleb Fossum might not be in Pullman. A second-year sophomore walk on receiver at Washington State, Fossum has emerged at the outside wide receiver position this spring and is looking to make a push for turns in the rotation.

PULLMAN - No one would have guessed this was the first Washington State practice of the spring in watching Luke Falk, the entire receiving corps -- and especially Falk's connection with River Cracraft. Usually the timing between WRs and QBs is not quite there on Day One of spring ball, but Falk and Cracraft on Thursday looked like they had not missed a beat since the Sun Bowl victory over Miami.

PULLMAN -- Defensive coordinator Alex Grinch broke an early huddle with WSU's defense, saying "Have a great day." The defense, coming off a Tuesday practice where the offense ran amok with several chunk-yardage plays, took Grinch's words to heart.

But the running game, and the blocking by the wideouts, was what caught Tony Thompson’s eye when it came to the Cougar offense.
