Hazlet, N.J., product Shane Mertz had been piling up the offers, but this past weekend he took a visit to Northwestern and after coming home and taking a night to think things over he decided that the Wildcats offered him what no other program in the country could.
Shane Mertz picked up his 13th written scholarship offer on Thursday evening when the West Virginia Mountaineers invited him to become a part of their 2011 recruiting class according to a text message he sent to Scout.com.
