Shortly after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Chicago Bears on Saturday afternoon, the team announced they had acquired Cornerback, Kenneth Acker, from the San Francisco 49ers. The young, but experienced cornerback, gives KC’s secondary another viable starting option and significant boost in regards to depth.

On Thursday, the youngsters received another opportunity to show off their talents before the veterans arrive on the practice field this weekend. The 2016 draft class has already yielded some interesting options for Head Coach Andy Reid and his coaching staff. In fact, a few of them could open up as starters come September.

At the onset of the NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs had a goal to get quality players and acquire more picks. With nine new football players on the roster, it’s certainly hard to gauge the true value of this draft class on the field. It will take time to see their true impact but that won’t stop us from offering our final draft grade.

The Kansas City Chiefs are serious about improving their defensive secondary. In day three of the NFL draft, they take their second cornerback this time selecting Minnesota defensive standout Eric Murray. If you watch him on film, he possess some of the same skills at former Chiefs corner, Brandon Flowers.

With the defection of Cornerback Sean Smith to the Oakland Raiders, the Kansas City Chiefs used their new third round pick, acquired from the Tampa Bay Bucs, to draft Notre Dame Cornerback, KeiVarae Russell. Though he comes to the NFL with some academic baggage and a recent leg injury, that did not deter the Chiefs from drafting a solid football player.
