The Wendy's All-Star Shootout, which is entering its fifth year, is considered one of the country's top high school basketball all-star games. The game features top seniors from the Chicagoland area versuses their counterparts from New York. Chicago took a 3-1 series lead with a 96-93 win in 2002. 18 Wendy's All-Star Shootout Alumni participated in the 2003 NCAA Tournament. This year's game will take place on Sunday, April 20 at the DePaul University Athletic Center in Chicago at noon.

The rosters for the Kentucky Derby Festival Classic are set for the final of the big All-Star games. The April 26 game held at Freedom Hall in Louisville features 22 of the top prep players in the country. There will also be the Derek Anderson Derby Festival Night of the Future Stars Friday. The event will feature a Slam Dunk and 2-on-2 contests and the three-point shootout. 7-3 Shagari Alleyene, who is being recruited by Kentucky, was added to the roster. He had committed to Rutgers.

The College Basketball News' top ten saw some change as previous #3 Columbus Brookhaven and #5 Rochester (NY) McQuaid Jesuit lost in the state tournament. Akron (OH) St. Vincent- St. Mary secured its number one ranking with its third state title in four years. #2 Indianapolis (IN) Pike is in the Indiana state finals this weekend.

Elizabeth (NJ) St. Patrick's moved back into the College Basketball News' top twenty with two wins in the Prime Time Shootout. However, the Trenton event was not as kind to other teams as Lanier (MS) High and Jersey City (NJ) St. Anthony's fell out along with Chicago (IL) Whitney Young. Baton Rouge (LA) Woodlawn and Fort Worth (TX) Dunbar moved in. Look for plenty of changes as conference play heats up and some states start postseason play.

Robert Hines did not score in the first half, but he came alive on both ends of the floor as he and Villanova signee Michael Nardi lead St. Patrick's (17-4) to a 68-60 win over Bergen Catholic (14-3). Hines finished with 15 points, including eleven in the fourth period. He made seven of eight from the charity stripe in the final stanza. He and Nardi combined for 27 of the team's 29 points of the period.
