Rutgers / Seton Hall Post Game: Part 2

Both JR Inman and Marquis Webb were huge contributors in Rutgers' close, hard-fought 77-to-72 loss to arch-rival Seton Hall. Inman once again was RU's leading scorer and rebounder with 18 and 12 respectively, while Webb played the game's best defense for 39 minutes. Afterwards, SOR was able to speak with both JR Inman and Marquis Webb about RU's tough Big East opener.

Webb lifts RU over South Carolina State

Rutgers rebounded from a road loss at North Carolina to close out its non-conference schedule – and the year 2006 – with a 75-to-68 victory over South Carolina State. Marquis Webb led Rutgers with a career high 28 points, including 5 three pointers. The Scarlet Knights will enter the Big East wars, starting with a visit to the Meadowlands against Seton Hall on Wednesday, with a 7-6 record.

RU evens up against Iona

At first glance, especially to an outsider, Rutgers 66-to-51 win over Iona to pull even at 5-5 and drop the winless Gaels to 0-8, might seem unremarkable. But with the win, the Scarlet Knights showed they may be starting to provide an answer to the most frequently-asked question about them heading into this year.

A Continuing Trend

Sunday's loss to Cincinnati continued a trend for the Scarlet Knights. Unfortunately, it wasn't one coach Gary Waters was hoping for. In the previous three games, Rutgers had done a solid job stopping the team's top offensive threat, but fell victim to the supporting cast. Rutgers gave up 28 points to Kyle Lowry, 14 to Levon Kendell, and 24 to Draelon Burns, losing two of the three games.
