SEATTLE - In a fitting end to the 2007-08 basketball season, hobbled UW forward Jon Brockman missed two free throws with four seconds remaining as the Huskies fell to the Valparaiso Crusaders, 72-71 in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational at Bank of America Arena.

LOS ANGELES — Washington put forth a gutsy effort playing without Jon Brockman in its Pac-10 Tournament first round game against California in the Staples Center, but fell short, 84-81, when Venoy Overton's last-second 3-pointer deflected short of the rim. The loss likely ends the season for the Huskies, which finished the year an even 16-16.

The former Franklin high star, shredded Arizona's interior defense, while making life miserable for their freshmen sensation, Jerryd Bayless, on the defensive end. Overton's efforts helped propel the Washington Huskies to a big 75-66 win at Bank of America Arena Thursday night.
