PULLMAN -- Pro Day on the Palouse is in the books. Eleven Cougars took part in drills and events in front of NFL scouts in the Cougar Football Complex and on Rogers Practice Field. The workouts were exhausting for one Coug in need of sleep -- the build-up was even more restless for wide receiver Isiah Myers, who afterwards was headed for a well deserved nap.

PULLMAN -- Vince Mayle will have something to prove Thursday when scouts come to Pullman for NFL Pro Day. His 40 times at the NFL Combine were disappointing and a broken thumb kept him from catching. But when it comes to the most to gain from Thursday's workouts, no outgoing Cougar will have more on the line than running back Marcus Mason.

WASHINGTON STATE is on pace to sign a star-studded class on Letter of Intent Day in February -- and much will be said about the future Cougs between now and then. But the true measure of a class can't be known until at least a few years down the road. So let's go back four years and see how the Cougs' 2011 class, the last class Paul Wulff assembled at Wazzu, panned out.

SOME ARRIVED five years ago, some four. Some walked on, some came from the JC ranks and most signed their letters of intent when Paul Wulff was the coach. They are the 14 Washington State seniors who will step onto the FieldTurf Saturday night at Martin Stadium (Fox Sports 1, 7:30 p.m.) for the final time as Cougar players.

CORVALLIS – Connor Halliday never stepped foot in Reser Stadium on Saturday afternoon, but his presence was overwhelming. One week after Halliday’s brilliant senior season came to a premature end, Washington State players said they were inspired by their fiery senior quarterback in a 39-32 triumph over Oregon State. Redshirt freshman Luke Falk played brilliantly in Halliday’s absence.
