Besides giving up the most passing touchdowns in NFL history, the biggest complaint about the Saints defense last year, was the complex, exotic schemes put in by defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. It's well known by now that new DC Dennis Allen has simplified the Saints defense, and is letting them rely on their instincts as football players, rather than cluttering their heads with complicated schemes trying to figure out where they're supposed to be on the field. After watching two of the NFL's all-time worst defenses the past two seasons, New Orleans Saints fans are anxious for any kind of improvement on that side of the ball. And with one projected starter already out for the season (Hau'oli Kikaha), the mission won't be easy, but it's far from impossible. The no-nonsense approach brought in by new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, is a big contrast from his predecessor Rob Ryan. He also plans to use his best eleven players, regardless of position.
